When I first starting my PhD I was heavily immersed in retro gaming culture. I had met lots of interesting people along the way either face to face or via online mediums. After a while, I noticed that retro gamers have more in common then just their interest is specific parts of retro gaming. I noticed that there were lots of significant areas of overlap in peoples experiences which went beyond a shared affinity for games. I decided to test a hypothesis that there is a correlation between peoples year of birth and their nostalgic preference. This article is an overview of some of the research that I undertook to explore this hypothesis over a period of eight years. Game Careers Guide were kind enough to publish on their website earlier in the year. You can find the full article here.
